I'm going out on a limb to say this meme is finally over, or at the minimum over within my algorithm driven feed on Facebook and Instagram. This thread is not only a collection of increasingly funny human creativity with Harambe at the center, but also a test to see what the future holds for memes. Will meme's trend the way fashion trends over the years? Continuously in and out of style, but always evolving with the new materials available? Perhaps.

We've already seen the rise of meme stocks, which are synonymous with pump and dump methods of stock buying. The only thing we're missing are the flash mobs from 2010 where communal engagement peaked. Now it's as if everyone is behind a computer screen, more connected than any other human at any point in our existence but oh so much more lonely. Hey, it's okay, pull up another meme, let's just chuckle a little.
