I was picking up a buddy from Bayou Oaks for a Friday evening stroll into Montrose. I think we ended up in Montrose and went to Poison Girl (before the scene changed.) In the car, he pulled out a black CD case with a golden light on the cover and within a few moments would blow my mind with the music. He introduced me to the Tontons and my life changed from then on. The Houston Press covered them on multiple occasions, and they were even on the homepage of MTV, but I don't remember exactly which year. Nonetheless, if you haven't heard of them, check them out on Spotify or if that's too mainstream... they should still have some stuff on bandcamp.
They played free press summer fest in 2015 before they shut down the festival for all the nonsense the owners were doing. If I find the picture, i'll post it here later. Tontons if you're reading this please keep doing your thing. You guys are timeless.
