Texas Chainsaw Convienence

There used to be a convenience store off the corner of MacGregor and Scott street near the University of Houston. It was one of the first places I went to with a death metal guitar player on the hottest day an 18 year old could imagine.

Orientation had sorta ended for the day and we were free to roam around the campus and the surrounding area.

As my newly formed compadre and I exited the Moody Towers parking lot, we drove down Wheeler past the row of abandoned and dilapidated houses till we hit Scott Street where I noticed the Frenchy's chicken with the aluminum/glass dining area and a fire station. What a time to be alive.

The area was new to me so I couldn't gauge how far we were going but I recall things looking a bit run down. Give it a few years and I would frequent the area between Magregor and UH for some basic brews, MD2020, fried chicken and obviously the most important... we would film FUHA in one of the dorm houses near the new Popeyes they just built.

By the time we hit the edge of MacGregor, we decided not to cross Brays Bayou and just pulled into the Texas Chainsaw Massacre looking convience store.

Tony and I walked into a time capsule. No renovations, nothing new, just items for your convience. We went to the fridge in the back to grab beer and I noticed a giant pile of ice bags inside of the doors. I didn't know refrigerators could be that old and that damn cold. It was amazing. We purchased our goods, no questions asked and hopped back to the Corrolla S... a downgrade from the Mustang Mach II Tony used to drive.

We couldn't take too long after all.. we had a party to get to.
