After an approximate two years of throwing ourselves into the unknown streets of Houston, Andre was moving onto the next chapter of his life... grad school. I was focusing more on design and Anisha and Alex had long graduated.
Fuha had begun its decline approximately a year and three months into the series. Everyone on the team was moving onto the next thing. With our host Andre leaving, we felt it best to wrap up the show. FUHA had started to change from our run and gun style at local Houston places to interviews at Andre's apartment and Etro Lounge for the Drink of the Week segment. We were fewer people and stretched too thin.
We had a going away party at his apartment on Avondale street in Montrose behind the Mattress Firm on Westheimer. After exploring Zinefest Houston a couple of times, we had talked about doing a zine, but never really had the opportunity to do so. It was Andre's idea. With a little bit of money and a lot of contributions from Andre's friend group of writers from the Honors college, we put together a small zine printed it at the FedEx down the street from Cactus music.
The party itself was small and intimate, most people there were moving away at that party too, and we handed out copies of the zine to those that came.
It was a good time.
The cover of the zine was a contribution from me. I took the picture using a Canon 7D shooting into an abandoned building on westview and witte. Today it is Saigon Hustle.
