I went to PZ back in 2008 when my brother and I had finally passed our driving tests and were able to "drive." I think I arrived with 10 dollars in my pocket.
supercombo.ggits maintains, within it's archive, a post of the final days of the anime center. It was around 2012 when Planet Zero shut down, and who could blame them? The casual teenagers lounging around an arcade and not spending money? This is a business people, they need to pay the rent!
A leftover twitter (x) account documents the history of PZ which interesting enough was right at the beginning of the social media boom. https://x.com/planetzeroanime
Often on the weekends, my brother and I would drop by to play some games alongside some high school buddies. I wasn't bing into fighting games, but Puzzle Fighter was on the floor, so I enjoyed playing that.
Fast-forward a few years, I took my girlfriend on a date there, and she kicked my ass in MVC2.
That's when I knew she was the one.
